Genesis of Reswing
Nick had been playing golf for a while when he thought it would be perfect for Mels. He gave him an old second-hand Ben Sayers set to try out, probably fourth-hand at that point, but that set served him well for a long time. And that's when it clicked: the right second-hand clubs are simply good. It's as simple as that.
Mels then became seriously hooked himself. He started tracking his handicap, trained regularly, and increasingly became a true golfer. And the longer he played, the more he began to notice something: the Dutch golf world was... dusty. Seriously. Not very accessible. In England, meanwhile, he had seen young guys with second-hand golf webshops, fun marketing, and a fresh appeal that he couldn't find anywhere in the Netherlands. That contrast stayed with him. Because why didn't something like that exist here?
The chance to freshen up the dusty Dutch golf world with a concept inspired by what he had seen in England? He wasn't going to let that pass.
And who better to team up with for this idea? Indeed, Nick. The personal trainer who had dragged him onto the course, who worked next to a golf course, and who had been expressing the ambition to build something for years. Two friends, friends for over 10 years since middle school, who were going to build something together.
The golfers behind Reswing
Mels is the entrepreneur of the duo. He had previously owned a mountain bike rental & clinic company and launched a home repair app, but golf provided him with a new inspiration. He was the one who spotted the opportunities and thought, "This should be possible in the Netherlands too."
Nick is the people person. As a Personal Trainer, he knows better than anyone how to get someone excited about a sport. From years of playing korfball to training people in the gym, sport is in his DNA. And he was smart enough to hand Mels an old Ben Sayers set.
Together, we've been friends for over 10 years. We know how the other thinks, complement each other, and sometimes (read often) simply disagree. Our shared stories make us a fantastic duo.
